The Alcove

Today Fletcher and I met up with our friend Sarah for brunch at a little coffee house nearby. It was a great outing, Fletcher is doing better and better in public and it's getting easier for me to take him places. He decided to take a nice long nap in my arms while I caught up with Sarah, which was nice because I haven't really talked to her since my shower nearly 5 months ago.

Fletcher was all smiles for Sarah, he has a thing for pretty ladies!
It was a beautiful day today and now that Greg is off work he and Fletcher are taking a nap in the living room.

Meanwhile I'm packing for our upcoming weekend staycation*...

*And by "staycation" I mean that we'll be down the street at a hotel while the terminex guys fumigate our complex for termites. Fun, fun, fun!

Family photos

Fletcher is now 5 months. I can't believe how fast he is growing, it seems just yesterday we were taking a tiny, fragile little infant home from the hospital and now he's a solid, energetic baby!

Our friend Molly graciously took some family photos for us earlier this month, and I'm just now getting to post some of them here. Here's a little preview:

Isn't Fletcher a handsome little man? Just like his daddy. I know I'm gushing, but I just can't help myself!

Sleep, baby. Sleep...

Tonight I spent 2 hours putting my son to bed. I have to do some research on sleep training because I think Fletcher's showing signs of teething and it's only going to get worse and I'd really like to establish a healthy and successful "bedtime routine" as a foundation before all the teething fun begins.

I know that's it's ridiculous to assume that a baby won't ever have any problems with bedtime, but I feel like Greg and I have more or less been winging it and we've gotten lucky this far in getting Fletcher to sleep at night. He's a good sleeper once he's down, and most of the time he actually goes down pretty easily...

But tonight I was ready to put my son out on the porch!
Who me?

It had been a long day, and the last thing I wanted was to have him fuss at me for two hours in a dark room while I swayed and swayed hoping he'd eventually poop out. Sigh.

The crazy thing is though -- it's been about an hour and a half since Fletcher went to bed -- and there's part of me that wishes he'd wake up because I miss him!

Oh parenthood... Why are you so difficult at the times when I'm most tired?
